Everything works very well and the interface is very intuitive. A great feature is the progress tracking. It seems inconsequential but it inspires self-competition and a strong will to get better. I love it.
Interface looks great, & problem sets are inexpensive. Looking forward to the ability to add my own problem sets.
Amazing for the long commute to work.... All problems seemed to work well.
This would be a good app for beginners or people familiar with go. There are optional hint markers in case you get stuck
Great interface for go problems, my only issue is that the 10k-ish problems oscillate between tricky situations that smartgo would rate 4k or harder and obvious wraparound squeeze ladders that require no reading. Are they just rated based on number of moves?
There are too many times when a winning move is deemed "wrong" for this to be a good go puzzle app.
I really like the interface and the daily problems feature. All around a nice way to practice.
I like this tsumego app. It offers a nice little handful of problems for free, and the problems range in difficulty from what feels like 12 kyu to ?? dan. I only wish 1) it offered more problems for free as many websites already do and 2) it were a bit more forward about its problems difficulties since I know the app has been demotivating to my beginner friends.
This app is very good at giving go problems. I would recommend this app to anyone who wants to improve in this strategic game.
I love solving go problems on my iPhone (it’s almost as if it was designed for that :-)) and up until a few days ago, my go-to app was the GoProblems app (which is great, and you should all get it). Then I discovered Tsumego Pro, and I think I like it even more. The only negative is that the black stones are simple black circles; a little shading could make it look a lot better (devs?). Other than that, everything has been done beautifully. The daily problems are a nice touch, but the real killer feature is the progress mode, which assigns you a rating based on how many problems you’ve solved successfully. This is a great motivator and a way to prevent sloppy playing. Also, there are no time limits, so you can take your time solving problems. All in all, this is a very well-done app, and well worth your money if you are a Go fan. UPDATE: I’m docking one star for two reasons. First off, the problem difficulties are all over the map, as others have mentioned. The beginner pack (for instance) has lots of problems that are way beyond beginner level, as well as some easy ones. Second, there are two many cases where the move sequence given is just wrong. Sometimes a move listed as wrong turns out to be perfectly OK, and sometimes the supposedly optimal sequence isn’t. There is no question that this app has a great interface, but the problems need to be vetted better.
Love the daily problems
This app is amazing especially for it being free. The daily problems alone are enough to keep reading skills up through the day and they can present a challenge. The interface is user friendly and the app itself is smooth and feels finely tuned. Honestly the best tsumego app I have ever used. Highly recommended for anybody who wants to improve their reading skills
Ive used a bunch of tsumego apps and they all have something to recommend them, but Tsumego Pro is the best Ive seen. It has a great interface and a good mix of problems, along with good variety in the ways you can use it. The daily problems are also a nice touch. Highly recommended.
The problems are well chosen and I love the interface! My favorite go problems app
I would like some explanation or the ability to play through the wrong answer to see why its wrong, but still very good collection!
Simple, easy to use, and a great way to take Life and Death problems with you. The add-on packs are reasonably priced, and the Daily problem sets are a definite plus. Im relatively new to Go, so it would be great if the problems were more informative instead of all being simply geared towards your best play - it would be nice to have the option to learn WHY it is your best play. However, I understand that this isnt a problem book, and is more of a form memorization tool, so I understand the reasons against instruction. I bet the creators could make a good problem book, though! Also, on the Progress page the number to the right of your ranking in parentheses seems arbitrary, and isnt explained. It could very well be part of some scale that I dont know about, in which case disregard, but it is largely unexplained, and does not appear in the rest of the app. Great app, though. Best one Ive found to be sure. (Most others barely work on the present iOS) Worth the price of the packs Ive bought, and the ones I plan on buying in the future.
Interesting problems abd reasonably priced add-on packs. Great for my bus ride to work.
Great app
This is an excellent app. The UI is simple and easy to learn. The daily problems make this app for me , although I have purchased additional problem sets because of how cheap they are. There is area for improvement in the daily problems, with the occasional mistake or not very fleshed out sequences of moves.
